Are there different types of yacht charters?

There are bareboat charters and crewed yacht charters. Bareboat charter means renting a boat or yacht without staff or supplies. Therefore, you'll be alone and need to have some sailing experience. With a crewed yacht charter, you can fully enjoy the sailing experience, knowing that every aspect of your voyage — from navigating and sailing to cooking and cleaning — is taken care of by trained professionals so that you can truly relax and enjoy your time on the water. There are also charter companies specializing in specific activities (such as adventurous excursions or well-being holidays).

What number of passengers can a yacht charter accommodate?

Most yachts can carry 8/10 guests in 4/5 cabins. A few exceptional mega-yachts can hold 16 guests. Cruise ships are smaller than regular megayachts and can carry 30+ guests (example: r.m. Elegant)

Does the charter rate include everything?

No the charter rate includes the rental of the yacht and all of its appliances. The crew's salaries and meal costs are also covered. Additionally, the costs associated with insurance coverage of the yacht. On top of these costs, charterers pay additional costs (APA) that typically cover fuel, food and drink for guests onboard, port fees and national taxes.

Who gets paid as part of the charter process?

As your charter company/brokerage firm, we receive a commission from the gross charter fee paid by either the yacht owner/their representative or agent for finding the client and handling all paperwork including the charter contract/preference sheet/payments.

How long must i rent a yacht for?

Charters are normally priced per week (7 days) i.e. Saturday/Saturday for mediterranean locations (e.g. July/August, Greece/Croatia/Italy/France/etc.) whereas in the caribbean the minimum duration is usually 5 days. However, "gap" charters may be anywhere from 3-5 days. As part of our special offers section we only list special offers with a minimum duration of 3 days. Can i pick which day of the week i begin/end my charter?

While manned yacht charters may start/end on any day of the week (depending on availability), they usually operate Saturday to Saturday. Embarkations/disembarkations are usually at 12:00 noon however this may be negotiated with your clients should it conflict with their travel plans.

Most of the charters in the Eastern Mediterranean use semt (Standard Eastern Mediterranean Terms) e.g. Greece/Turkey; SCT (Standard Caribbean Terms) are used for caribbean charters; whereas France uses the Transport Agreement created by ecpy for commercial operations involving defined routes.

What are the payment terms for a charter?

Under myba terms: 50% of the gross charter fee is payable via wire transfer at the signing of the charter contract. This secures your booking. The remaining 50% (plus an Advance Provisioning Allowance, taxes - e.g. Passenger tax/VAT etc., delivery/re-delivery charges & any additional agreed charges) are payable via wire transfer one calendar month prior to your charter date.

Charter itineraries on luxury yachts are generally flexible and determined by prior charters' berth availability and your interests/preferences. Prior to departing on your charter voyage, the Captain will continually review weather forecasts and tailor your itinerary accordingly.

The Captain and his Crew will attempt to accommodate any changes to your charter itinerary in response to adverse weather conditions or changes in your plans. Please recognize however that several factors must always be considered including berth availability, provisioning (fuel/food), booking calendars, or port of debarkation.
